Marijke holds a B.Sc. in Clinical Nutrition and a Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Science. She has been in private practice for nearly 2 decades and currently has a natural health clinic in Armstrong, B.C. where she works with hundreds of horses (and their people) from across North America.
Marijke formulates individual health programs to resolve a variety of equine health conditions with the use of herbs, homeopathic medicines, nutrition, specific diets and feeding programs; and animal communication. She is an experienced teacher and facilitator presenting topics in equine nutrition and natural medicine, laminitis, kinesiology, and animal communication. Her easy style, expert knowledge, exceptional communication skills and successful health practices have put her in high demand as a featured speaker in seminars, workshops and conferences.
She is the author of the popular book
Healing Horses: Their Way! an in-depth reference book on healing horses with holistic equine nutrition and common-sense horse-keeping, including natural treatment programs for a variety of health problems. It includes fascinating case studies and has sold hundreds of copies. She is currently working on her second and third books: Healing People... The Marijke Method and Healing Horses...The Marijke Method.
Marijke is the founder and formulator of Riva's Remedies, an herbal and homeopathic product line for horses widely distributed across Canada and the U.S.
Marijke is an avid horse-woman: she owns two quarter horse mares, one black and white paint gelding, a Shetland pony who taught her everything she knows about laminitis, and a miniature cross donkey who loves to be loved. She rides English, Western, bareback and bitless, and enjoys interacting with her horses through healing, fun-filled horsemanship, intuitive communications, good food and a sharing of the spirit.
