Mervyn Nicholson is Professor of English and former Chair of English and Modern Languages at Thomson Rivers University in Kamloops, B.C., and has served on the executive of the Association of Canadian University Teachers of English. He is the author of a groundbreaking study of mental images, entitled
13 Ways of Looking at Images
(2003, Red Heifer Press), a highly regarded study of malice in literature and society, entitled Male Envy (1999, Lexington Books). He has also published in a wide range of journals, including PMLA, The Journal of the History of Ideas, Literature/Film Quarterly, Nineteenth-Century Contexts, Recherches Sémiotiques, Women's Studies, The Wallace Stevens Journal, and many more. Mervyn Nicholson lives on a mountain top with his wife, several dogs and cats, as well as frequent and casual visitors from the neighboring wild.
